Early Intensive Behavior Intervention (EIBI)

EIBI is based on the principles of ABA and the work of researchers at the UCLA Young Autism Project. EIBI integrates ABA with principles from learning theory, operant conditioning, behavioral economics, and motivational theory.

It involves breaking down complex skills into smaller steps, and then teaching each step through a series of highly structured teaching trials, each one with a specific instruction, prompts, and reinforcement. Teaching trials are delivered in blocks, 1:1 by an adult, 20–40 hours per week for two or more years, with skill emphasis in communication, social skills, cognition, and pre-academic skills.
